Service 4: Subsidies for Pet Insurance

This program is provisional and depends significantly on one key factor — the ability of Treasured Pets to negotiate a deal with pet insurance providers. In theory, Treasured Pets negotiates an agreement with Pumpkin, Embrace, or ASPCA Pet Insurance where we pay a fraction of the cost, for example, for an annual pet insurance policy for qualified pet parents. Perhaps as part of the overall agreement, the pet guardian must agree to extend the policy for at least one additional year after our organization's responsibility ends.

According to a 2020 peer-reviewed study, "Euthanasia of companion animals and pets in veterinary emergency medicine is a common cause of death." Surgical treatment leads to the survival of around 80-90% of dogs; however, treatment is costly. Having pet insurance to reduce the burden of unforeseen veterinary costs on parents should greatly reduce the risk of pre-surgical Economic Euthanasia. According to MarketWatch, "pet insurance costs $768 annually for dogs and $324 for cats, with an average monthly cost of $49 per month" (April 2024). The team secret-shopped 14 national pet insurance providers and gathered over 2,000 quotes in every state. The most important basis for animal guardians to consider insurance is to protect them from Economic Euthanasia.

Note: This program will launch as soon as possible but not before Treasured Pets has successfully negotiated deals with several pet insurance providers to ensure we can extend the best possible offers to all pet and companion animal guardians. Program 3 is planned to be released in the autumn of 2025. Please check back here periodically for status updates. Your donations help to facilitate our programs and are utilized wisely. We promise to use the maximum amount of your contribution directly towards completing our programs. We thank you in advance for becoming part of our community and helping to disrupt and alleviate Economic Euthanasia.

We thank you for your patience and support.
