Subsidies for Pet Insurance

Please note: This program is currently provisional and contingent on our ability to establish partnerships with trusted pet insurance providers.

Treasured Pets is working to negotiate agreements with major pet insurance providers such as Pumpkin, Embrace, and ASPCA Pet Insurance. The goal is to offer subsidized annual insurance policies to qualified pet parents and companion animal guardians — helping to reduce the financial burden of emergency veterinary care.

Under this model, Treasured Pets would contribute a portion of the annual insurance premium. In return, participating guardians would agree to maintain the policy for at least one additional year beyond the period subsidized by our organization. This approach helps foster long-term protection against unexpected medical costs while promoting responsible guardianship.

According to a 2020 peer-reviewed study, “Euthanasia of companion animals and pets in veterinary emergency medicine is a common cause of death.” Despite surgical treatments resulting in survival rates of 80–90% for dogs, high treatment costs remain a significant barrier. Pet insurance has the potential to reduce this burden and, in doing so, help prevent pre-surgical Economic Euthanasia.

MarketWatch (April 2024) reports that the average annual cost of pet insurance is $768 for dogs and $324 for cats — approximately $49/month. Their team obtained over 2,000 quotes from 14 major providers across all 50 states. The takeaway is clear: pet insurance provides a critical safety net, protecting families from the unthinkable when unexpected veterinary costs arise.

Our Vision

Economic Euthanasia should never be the outcome of a lack of financial resources. Through this upcoming program, Treasured Pets aims to make pet insurance more accessible and affordable for pet guardians who need it most. By providing a foundation of financial preparedness, we can help ensure more pets receive the care they deserve.

Launch Timeline

We anticipate launching this subsidy program in Spring 2026, contingent on the successful negotiation of insurance partnerships that provide the best value to our community of pet guardians. We encourage you to check this page periodically for updates.
