Our Core Beliefs
We believe that the cause of the problem is not exclusively economic.
Although the various definitions of Economic Euthanasia all include an economic component, the existing problem originates from several sources. We are committed to the continual analysis of the dilemma and challenging the status quo that fosters Economic Euthanasia.
We believe in focusing our attention on the underlying causes.
We've identified the underlying causes of Economic Euthanasia, and we focus all of our attention on the root origins.
We believe that the act of Economic Euthanasia should be illuminated for all to see.
As a community, we are called to recognize the compassion of each of our pets and companion animals and to provide support that liberates one another from euthanasia. We believe that the majority of pet parents and companion animal guardians are not well-informed on the topic of Economic Euthanasia. We'll shine a bright light on this issue and ensure that all have the chance to educate themselves through the resources we provide.
We believe all animals should be treated equally to humans, with respect and dignity.
The majority of us all share in the human experience which includes pets and companion animals and are therefore called to design and implement solutions together. We NEVER use terminology like "pet owners" or "companion animal owners"! At Treasured Pets, you are either a pet or companion animal guardian or a parent — we don't own our canine and feline family members, we love and treasure each of them.
We believe in solidarity over charity.
Our largest social and economic issues will be solved when we stand shoulder to shoulder and understand that we are not independent but interdependent. Undoubtedly, charity plays a significant role as a vital tool in resolving issues.
We believe that an end to Economic Euthanasia is possible.
Though the problem is overwhelmingly large, we focus our efforts on disrupting, combatting, and alleviating Economic Euthanasia. We believe our efforts and your help will one day avert this brutal act; however, we know that, together with your help, we can reverse the ever-increasing upward trend in our lifetime. We don't euthanize humans due to financial reasons and we shouldn't with animals either!
It all began with our love of animals and an attitude that we don't own our furry companions. We care for and love them just as they love us and, in their special way, care for us deeply.
Treasured Pets Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization incorporated in Florida. We are located in the St. Petersburg - Clearwater, FL area. The organization was formed for the sole purpose of disrupting, combatting, and alleviating Economic Euthanasia. Our company does not receive any federal, state, or county funding and no funding from animal welfare organizations, such as the Humane Society of the United States or ASPCA. We rely solely on donations, grants, bequests, and fundraising campaigns to achieve our goals and accomplish our mission and vision.
Our Approach to The Problem
Our approach to the problem makes us different than other animal welfare charities. Existing charities that attempt to alleviate Economic Euthanasia use an 'either-or' strategy, employing tactics for potential solutions—involving one resource or another, one stakeholder or another. We approach the problem by utilizing all solutions and prospective stakeholders. Moreover, Treasured Pets is the only nonprofit organization 100% focused on addressing the Economic Euthanasia problem solely.
Leading Through Knowledge, Values, and Beliefs
Before Treasured Pets was incorporated and filed for its tax-exempt status, we extensively researched Economic Euthanasia, its underlying causes, the existing market and industry, and its numerous organizations. After we incorporated, filed for our 501(c)(3), and received approval from the IRS, we continued to research the market and industry in addition to the underlying causes of Economic Euthanasia. Nearly three years later, we launched Treasured Pets with a single all-encompassing goal—lead through knowledge of the problem and understand the solutions while adhering to our values.
Our Core Values
Our core attitude and belief… We don't own our pets or companion animals—we care for and love them just as they love us and, in their special way, they care for us. We strive to support those who face the harshest impediment to pet and companion animal guardianship— Economic Euthanasia— and we endeavor to disrupt and alleviate this barrier.
We care deeply about animals and the people who care for them. It is our responsibility and an honor to improve animal health thereby extending life. This guides our advocacy and interactions with the external world and shapes our internal culture and how we collaborate, internally and externally. We're passionate and deeply committed to combating Economic Euthanasia and creating an equitable climate for all pets, companion animals, and their guardians.
